After doing a basic 'Ten-Series' , I had
my best snowboard season ever! My body felt totally
centered and my balance was on point. My flexibility
skyrocketed and I completed an injury-free season.

For about a year I had chronic trouble with my lower back.
I’d been receiving body work for over 20 years including
chiropractic, acupuncture, and deep massage, and I still
had discomfort that I couldn’t overcome. It was frustrating
because I thought that I had been conscientious about
maintenance along with my high level of activity. I was
curious about Rolfing and when my doctor recommended Eriks
Peterson I decided to give Rolfing a try. Although Rolfing
sometimes has the reputation of being painful, I have had
no pain with Eriks’s work and, from the beginning, have
found it very effective. I’ve had tangible improvement
after each session. I’ve now been through the full
session of 10. It’s been so effective that I plan to
continue a regular maintenance program with
Eriks.

In the summer of 2009 I was introduced to
Eriks Peterson and Rolfing. That first introduction has
been one of the most beneficial things for me in many
areas, my athletic goals, my overall well-being and
day-to-day health and recovery!
In 2008 I had a hip arthroscopy to repair some bone spurs
and tearing of the labrum. After the surgery I went through
intensive physical therapy and came out of this feeling
pretty good, but still feeling a little off.
I found myself looking for help to alleviate some pain and
discomfort. I looked at Acupuncture, Massage and
Chiropractic. All of these seemed to alleviate some of the
problems for a time, but I found myself still running back
into the issues that were causing the pain and discomfort.
Many people had mentioned Rolfing to me, and the possible
benefits.
In the spring of 2009 as I was preparing for my Mountain
Bike Racing season, I found myself having knee issues on
longer rides. I had been trying many things to alleviate
this, but nothing seemed to work.
I decided to check out Eriks, who had been recommended by
many locals.
After the first session I went home and took a walk and was
interested on how I might feel on the next big ride, which
happened to be the Firecracker 50.
During the Firecracker I briefly thought about the knee at
about mile 25 and was wondering when the pain would arise.
That is the only time I thought about it! It never appeared
and has not since! I finished 2nd in my age group with a smoking time of
4:16!
After the first initial session and the good results from
it I decided to schedule some more sessions for my hip and
back problems.
Again, I immediately started to see results, everything
from feeling more comfortable on the bike to more
comfortable walking or just in regular daily routines. The
benefits were there and I was feeling better and better!
Through the last year and a half I have found with my
intense racing and training schedule, the benefits of
visiting Eriks for a session whenever I can! These sessions
seem to keep me balanced, my body feeling vibrant, healthy
and ready for any big race or event in life! I can’t say
enough about what I get from Eriks and Rolfing!
It also comes to mind, that when I talk with people about
the benefits of seeing a Rolfer, I always hear them say
that they have heard it is painful. Now I can tell you I
have had some sessions that have been a little intense, but
the reality is, that mostly all the work is very refreshing
and really feels like my body needs this work. The outcome
of this is a refreshed and alive feeling body and
awareness! Again I can’t say enough.
You should really check out Eriks and his Rolfing!
Sincerely,

Did you notice any
changes in your body after the work? Any issues resolved?
I did notice a few big areas of pain and
tightness - GONE and many small annoying pains also
disappeared and never came back.
I enjoy how my body woks. I am so happy this technology
exists in the world and through Eriks is available here in
our community
Having experienced
various holistic modalities (massage, chiropractic,
accupunture), how did your experience of Structural
Integration differ or what qualities of the work are
different than others you've tried?
I value the
systematic comprehensive approach that addressed my whole
body. Literally head to toe. I've enjoyed a greater
fluidity of movement and awareness in body every day since
I completed the 10-series many months ago.
Was the work
painful?
I would
describe the work as intense in a good way. Rarely and only
momentarily would I describe the work as painful.
